Un-publishing and Deleting Datasets
When and how should a dataset be un-published/deleted? What will happen after the dataset is un-published/deleted?
You may find your answers in the user guides on Un-publishing Datasets and Deleting Datasets, respectively.
Can access to an un-published dataset be restored for an existing Data Request (DR) after the dataset is published again?
No, after the dataset is re-published, there is no guarantee that the dataset is still compatible with existing DRs. For example, a datafield that was initially a non-identifier may be updated to an identifier, but the DRs were approved on the basis that the datafield was a non-identifier.
To regain access, the data requestors can only re-request the dataset in new DRs and get them approved.
When a dataset is re-published, will the original data requestors be notified to re-request the dataset?
No, DataHive will not notify the data requestors in this case. It is up to the Tenant Admin to decide whether to inform the data requestors off-platform.
Why are Tenant Manager approvals not needed for un-publishment/deletion of datasets without active DRs?
For datasets without active DRs, the un-publishing / deletion has no downstream impact on existing data requestors, which is why there is no need for additional approval.
On the other hand, un-publishing / deleting datasets with active DRs will lead to an irreversible revocation of access for said datasets in active DRs, hence additional approval is needed.
Why would the data of a deleted dataset be archived for 90 days before being permanently deleted? Would any user still have access to the archived data?
This is to prevent important data being accidentally deleted by a Tenant Admin.
Within the 90-day period, a Tenant Manager is still able to restore the dataset. Unless it is explictly restored, re-published, and requested in new DRs, the archived data will not be accessible by any platform users.
Is there an option to immediately purge the data of a dataset?
Only Platform Admins of DataHive have the right to immediately purge datasets.
Please write to support@datahive.gov.sg to request for dataset purging if you have a compelling reason to do so (e.g. urgent policy requirement).
